30-Hour Famine

During this past Lenten season, our youth group participated in World Vision's 30-Hour Famine. From 12 noon on Maundy Thursday until 6pm on Good Friday, 10 youth and 2 adult coordinators "starved for food" and raised over $1700 in pledges. This money will be used to help feed hungry children all around the world. In addition, the youth collected over 500 canned goods and donated them to the First UMC food pantry for hungry families in our community.

Family Promise

Harris is part of a network of churches that provides housing and meals for a week at a time during a 3 month cycle. Our youth group participates by setting up the accommodations for these families. Partitions for private sleeping areas are put into place and beds are made and arranged to provide a welcoming atmosphere.
